R2P & IMPLEMENTATION STEPS
IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE involves a systematic and intentional approach to putting new practices or programs into place. We tend to use the Active Implementation Frameworks and associated tools developed by the National Implementation Research Network, although we try and tailor our methods to the most appropriate approach or specific tools. Some steps we often use are illustrated in the accompanying diagram.
For more information about these Implementation Science-based approaches see the Guide that also outlines the experiences of the SCI Knowledge Mobilization Network for implementing best practices in SCI rehabilitation – a network our team helped lead. Similarly, we currently provide leadership efforts to the SCI Implementation & Evaluation Quality Care Consortium – a National network that brings together 10 specialized SCI rehabilitation sites implementing indicators and associated best practices.
